Peace I leave with you; My [perfect] peace I give to you; not as the world gives do I give to you. Do not let your heart be troubled, nor let it be afraid. [Let My perfect peace calm you in every circumstance and give you courage and strength for every challenge.]
JOHN 14:27 AMP
https://bible.com/bible/1588/jhn.14.27.AMPAfter a chaotic day when my grandson had badly cut his arm and then bravely went through having the wound flap opened and re sealed before surgery, and seeing my daughter upset with parent guilt, I needed some inner peace. This inner peace not only calms you for life’s misadventures but it gives you courage and energy, strength and hope.My present reflections and book reading apart from academic psychotherapy books is one by the humanist psychotherapists Viktor Frankl called ‘ Man’s search for meaning’. Frankl survived the Nazi concentration camps, whilst losing all of his family members including his parents and wife.Frankl found that when men had meaning and hope to live for they managed to keep going, when that hope faded or diminished they gave up and the typhoid ravaged them and they perished.Frankl maintains and claims that there is hope to be found in any situation and that an inner peace and hope can give you strength to keep going. In our snowflake, celebrity famous five- minute moments culture there seems to be little perseverance, stickability or commitment to one another. We, including myself here can tend to lose our peace, get uptight, agitated, stressed and sometimes angry when things don’t go out way !But through finding our inner peace, lose our anxieties, ask ourselves the question do I need to get stressed over this situation? If the answer is no then let it wash over you and let that perfect peace come in like a flood. Here’s hoping you find hope and peace to take you through life’s journeys. From one pearl to another,Margaret Dexter-Lewis26th June 2019
